2018 was a historic year for the Kingston Democrats. We helped our Democratic candidates for County, State and Federal offices, and won several important victories.
The Ulster County Sheriff’s office is now under the leadership of Juan Figueroa, a Marine and former State Trooper with a strong vision for community policing and combating the opioid epidemic. After years of Republican control, the 19th Congressional District elected Democrat Antonio Delgado, who is committed to improving access to healthcare and upgrading the transportation infrastructure we all rely on. Kingston continues to be served by Assembly member Kevin Cahill, an indispensable legislator in the State Assembly and lifelong advocate for his district. While our candidate for State Senate, Pat Strong, was not elected, her record as a small business owner, environmentalist, and job creator continues to impress us.
Alongside these excellent candidates were their families, their campaign staff, committee members old and new, and countless volunteers. Their dedication, determination and enthusiasm ensured our success this past November, and gives us confidence that we will continue to move forward in 2019 as One Kingston.
Tip O’Neill said that “all politics is local.” In 2018, Kingston did its part to help elect representatives who reflect the values of our community.
Thank you for all your help and support.
