Rita Worthington in Ward 4
Rita M. Worthington, who has resided in the City of Kingston for more than 30 years, is finishing her first term on the Common Council. She is married to Rev. Paul D. Worthington and they have a blended family of 7 children. Rita began her legal career in 1996 and received her degree in paralegal studies from Kaplan University. She is currently employed as a Paralegal at the law firm of Rusk, Wadlin, Heppner & Martuscello, LLP. She also received her certification in Family Law mediation and counseling.
Rita formerly served as a Commissioner on the Kingston City Police Department as well as Moderator of the Community Policing forums. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Kingston City Library, Ulster County Mental Health Association and Save Them Now, a re-entry program for returning citizens from incarceration. Rita is a licensed minister at the New Progressive Baptist Church where she also serves as the Chairperson of the Trustee Board.
Rita believes it is her duty to advocate on behalf of those who feel they cannot advocate for themselves. Toward that end, she is committed to working and serving the citizens of Kingston.
